Most of the aventurine in the world is mined in India, but the name originated with the glass manufacturing of 18th century Murano near Venice. A glass blower accidentally dropped some copper shavings into a glass mixture and the resulting new color became known as ‘aventurine’ glass (‘a ventura’ in Italian means ‘by accident’). I have contrasted the soft pale green of the oval beads with black matt lava stone and gray hematite. Size: length (earring hole to end) 2”.
